Testimonials

I’ve taken a ton of workshops, and Amanda’s was definitely in my top three! It was just what I needed at this point in my artistic journey. I loved Amanda’s recent Wabi-Sabi and Vessel workshops. Amanda was organized from the first contact and flexible enough to answer our questions and provide suggestions when needed. She kept the flow of the class moving, ensuring we could finish our projects or at least get very close. Amanda is a generous instructor with her knowledge and supplies. She is fun, friendly, and professional. I can’t wait to take another workshop with Amanda!

I recently took a semi-private two-day Wabi-Sabi course with Amanda and absolutely loved it!  Amanda is super helpful, positive, patient and generous.  My friend and I had a great time learning new techniques and creating really cool pieces!  Amanda is incredibly talented and helped us learn by demonstrating on her own board and then guiding us when we had questions.  I was completely comfortable in the process and we had a lot of fun.  This is also one of the few classes I have taken that had me really enthused about trying out the process at home.  I’m not an artist by trade, but this textural, messy, 3D type art really clicked.  I live across the country, and in the US, but hope to take another course from her someday.  What a treat!!

We recently had the pleasure of attending Amanda Pierce’s encaustic Wabi-Sabi weekend workshop, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Amanda’s deep knowledge of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy and her mastery of encaustic techniques created an environment that was both inspiring and creatively liberating.

Amanda’s teaching style is warm, patient, and encouraging. She effortlessly guided us through the nuances of working with wax, pigments, and textures, helping us to  find our own unique voice and style. Her passion for the medium and her respect for the beauty of imperfection were evident in every aspect of the workshop.

Beyond the technical aspects, Amanda created a space where we could explore, experiment, and embrace the unexpected. She encouraged us to let go of perfectionism and appreciate the natural, imperfect beauty in our work. This was more than just a workshop; it was a journey into a new way of seeing and creating.

We left the weekend with a renewed sense of creativity, a deeper understanding of the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, and with a piece of art work that we are truly proud of. I can’t recommend Amanda’s workshop highly enough to anyone looking to explore the magical world of encaustic art. Thank you, Amanda, for an extraordinary experience!

Big Hugs

Getting the opportunity to have a semi-private encaustic workshop with Amanda was a true privilege. From the get-go, Amanda made us feel at ease and her kind and insightful teaching just made the whole day go by so quickly! Not only did I end up with a gorgeous piece (that is now proudly on my wall), but I learned so much in the process. With such a genuine person as a teacher, I feel I’ve created something very organic, very real, very me. Thanks again.

It was awesome to spend a semi-private wabi sabi workshop for a whole day with Amanda! She is such an exquisite, generous, talented, inspirational and wonderful artist, teacher and person! I enjoyed the process so much with her knowledgeable and attentive guidance. The day went by very quickly and I feel inspired, energized and nourished. I’m looking forward to taking more classes with her!

I was asked by an artist friend of mine to join her and two other artists at an encaustic class with Amanda Pierce last weekend. I had some trepidation since I had never attended an art class of any kind before. My fears left me the moment I stepped into Amanda’s studio. Her enthusiasm to help and her quiet encouragement were invaluable. After a six hour day of learning, I left the studio with a very meaningful piece of encaustic art. I had spent the day bringing textures and colours to life as well as embracing my creative side that I didn’t know existed. It was so rewarding to stretch myself. Thank you, Amanda, for your inspiration and encouragement. Can’t wait to challenge myself again. My brain loved it!

Having done encaustic artwork for many years, I felt it was time to shake things up and do further exploration of this medium. Amanda’s two day workshop was just what I needed! The knowledge Amanda shared of her approach to encaustics was very informative and inspirational (including cost saving tips!). Each student went home with their own unique creative artwork all inspired by Amanda’s instruction, joyful energy and passion. Many thanks!

I took the two day Wabi Sabi Encaustic Texture and Embedding Workshop with Amanda. She is a great teacher! The course was really well organized with the information presented in very clear bite-sized demonstrations. She showed us a large variety of techniques. It’s designed as a small class and Amanda provided the right balance of advice and assistance, while ensuring that we were the ones who created the art. All the supplies were provided as well as an abundance of “treasures” which we could incorporate in our art if we so chose. Amanda has a very lively and positive personality which made the course a blast.

“Just spent 3 of the best hours ever playing “grungy glitz” with Amanda. I’ve admired her work forever and finally got a chance to work with her during a private Zoom workshop. The time flew by as she taught by example, providing terrific tips and tricks as we worked together. She is an amazing artist and teacher, flexible and highly motivating, and it was my great privilege to work with her. Now I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to larger pieces in a new body of work.”

Hugs back at you,
-Barbara

“I have taken two private zoom workshops with Amanda and they have both been amazing! One was Wabi Sabi Encaustic and the other was Photo Encaustic. She is very clear with directions and what supplies one will need in advance. She is also patient and kind. I learned SO MUCH in both workshops in addition to creating some of the favorite pieces I ever made!”
-Jenn

“I’ve taken four workshops with Amanda now and I know I’ll be back for more. She’s a wonderful teacher… giving instruction, guidance and encouragement throughout the entire process. I’ve enjoyed every workshop… the encaustic bowls, birds and Nana’s Garden as well as my latest Garden Goddess which I love! I’ve taken other workshops where I bring my item home and feel like it’s not quite finished but the pieces I’ve done with Amanda are all proudly displayed in my home. I even convinced my husband to join me at the latest workshop and he thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Thanks so much for sharing your very special gift, Amanda… we’ll be back!”
-Marisa

“Spending the day, on a one-on-one private session with Amanda was beyond my expectations. I had only done one workshop (skinny totems) with her and was hooked. I needed her expertise and attention all to myself to get a real feel for encaustic and it was amazing. Amanda is kind, patient, supportive, encouraging and sooo easy to be with. Positive vibes only. I highly recommend a private for anyone who is a newbie. Loved my day. Will be back for sure with a few friends in tow. And, again, grateful to Patti Glover for o traducing me to Amanda!”
-Darlene

“I never end up with something when I take a workshop. It usually percolates and then it comes out in my work. To have inspiration right from the get go was new to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Amanda is very generous in sharing her knowledge and I had a blast!!!! I will probably do another class with her, she’s just fantastic!”
-France

“Just completed a fabulous workshop with Amanda. Two days of fun, learning new techniques, discovering new products and meeting other artists. Amanda shares tips and techniques, with a fun and interactive approach. This was my second workshop with Amanda and I look forward to participating in future classes”

“Amanda…
Thank you for delivering a fabulous learning weekend!
Your breadth of knowledge is inspiring and your wabi-sabi style is infectious. I am particularly fascinated by Powertex and all its possibilities! I look very forward to continuing on my artistic journey with your voice as my guide…”

-Diana

“I’m taking an intro to encaustic course with Amanda, and feel extremely grateful for it. Not only is the medium a source of endless creativity, but Amanda is the ideal instructor. She gives ample information so you feel prepared, while also giving space for your own agency in the design and execution of your pieces. As an art instructor myself, I know how challenging it can be to guide beginners. In her class, I am a beginner to encaustics, but thanks to her patience and empathic teaching style, I don’t feel lost; instead, I feel empowered with the right tools and techniques to produce something unique, beautiful, and soulfully nourishing. Her classes fill up quickly though, so registering early is probably a good idea!!”
-Andrea Noriega

“Not only does Amanda produce beautiful art, but she is a positive, enthusiastic and talented teacher as well. I have taken several workshops from her and love the warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere she creates.”
-Cynthia Incze

“As an artist already familiar with encaustic painting. I came to your workshop with very high expectations. You did not disappoint! I I loved the way you gave us just enough and then let us work and when we were ready you gave us more. I am still on a high! Thank you so much for the wonderful day. I look forward to more workshops with you!”
